Pre-orders available from iam8bit later today.
Production company iam8bit has announced the dynamic soundtrack to top-down beat ’em up game Ape Out is getting released on vinyl. The release is somewhat unusual given that the soundtrack is derived from live gameplay.
Ape Out features dynamically generated jazz music and for this vinyl release, developer Gabe Cuzzillo played through the game from which the music on this album is sourced.
Pre-orders for the Ape Out soundtrack vinyl will be available from the iam8bit website later today from 10:00 PDT (18:00 BST). Shipping is expected in Q3 2020.
The soundtrack, composed by Matt Boch, will be pressed on a 180g black vinyl disc and features artwork by illustrator and animator Mark Borgions. This album also includes a download code for the digital soundtrack.
Ape Out was nominated in the ‘Best Audio’ category at the Golden Joystick Awards 2019 and won the ‘Audio Achievement’ award at the BAFTA Games Awards 2020. The game’s reactive music system is showcased in the gameplay trailer embedded below.
Ape Out is published by Devolver Digital and available for Nintendo Switch and Windows.
