Composed by Roly Porter and TsuShiMaMiRe.

Developer Pixel Reef and music label G4F Records have announced that pre-orders for the soundtrack to the dreamlike virtual-reality exploration game Paper Beast are available now in a couple of formats.

The game’s soundtrack, a collaboration between English composer and sound designer Roly Porter and Japanese art punk trio TsuShiMaMiRe, has been pressed on two 180g white vinyl discs. The album comprises 17 tracks of ambient and rock music.

The double-vinyl soundtrack can be pre-ordered from the G4F Records website and as a bonus, every pre-order will come with artwork that’s signed by Paper Beast’s creator Éric Chahi (known for Another World, Heart of Darkness, and From Dust). Shipping is expected in Q1 2020.

“I wanted a sound that would translate the surreal, dreamlike journey that Paper Beast takes us on,” explained Chahi via a press release statement. “That’s why I wanted to work with Roly Porter – for the mystical, interstellar music he has created. The ambient music gives the Paper Beast universe sounds that are electro, metallic and lunar all at the same time. There is a lot of magnetism in his music.

“In TsuShiMaMiRe we find a common energy that expresses the bizarre colourful side of Paper Beast. Their punk rock style expresses all the life of the creatures that inhabit this world, born of lost internet data. It’s a contrast that unites the games two themes: data and life.”

The Paper Beast soundtrack can also be pre-ordered from Bandcamp ahead of its release on 1st March, 2020. Pre-orders of the double-vinyl soundtrack from G4F Records include the digital album.

Paper Beast is developed and published by Pixel Reef with a scheduled release for PlayStation VR in Q1 2020.
