High-definition remaster releasing on Nintendo Switch this winter.

Publisher Marvelous Europe has revealed additional details regarding the upcoming western release of its role-playing game Rune Factory 4 Special.

Originally released for Nintendo 3DS by the now defunct Japanese studio Neverland, Rune Factory 4 Special is a high-definition remaster that’s set for release this winter on Nintendo Switch.

Select retailers in Europe and Australia will sell physical copies of the game. Rune Factory 4 Special will also be sold digitally via the Nintendo eShop.

Aside from the standard edition of Rune Factory 4 Special, a limited edition will also be available exclusively from the Marvelous Europe online store.

The Rune Factory 4 Special – Archival Edition includes a physical copy of the game, an A5 160-paged art book featuring the works of series character designer Minako Iwasaki, an official soundtrack CD containing 33 tracks of music from the original game along with three new ones, the ‘Swimsuit Day’ downloadable content that gives players the option to don characters in their swimwear, and a premium custom box.

This remaster includes a ‘Newlywed Mode’ comprising special episodes that centre on relationships and marriage between 12 eligible characters with new voice-overs and cutscenes.

Rune Factory 4 Special is currently in development with further release details to be announced at a later date.
