2-CD digipak available in limited numbers.
Music label Materia Collective has released its latest arrangement album, OMEGA: A Tribute to Xenogears.
The album is dedicated to the music of Yasunori Mitsuda, composer of the Xeno series of role-playing games that date back to 1998 on the PlayStation.
OMEGA: A Tribute to Xenogears features over two hours of music from a wide range of arrangers and performers, and is available now from Bandcamp, iTunes/Apple Music, and Spotify.
Star Fox Zero voice actor Joe Zieja has a track called “The Chapel’s Back Porch”, an acoustic number in which he plays the guitar and mandolin. Other tracks feature artists such as String Player Gamer, the Videri String Quartet, and many others.
Wizard of Legend composer Dale North closes out the album with a track called “Broken Mirror”, in which he provides keys and vocals.
“The Xenogears soundtrack is largely responsible for my own path to becoming the [video game] music composer I am today,” explained album producer Chris Porter.
“Before I even knew that you could buy [video game] soundtracks, I would fire up Xenogears and just let the music play as I listened blissfully through my TV speakers. When I taught myself how to play guitar, I used to figure out melodies from the game by ear, often from memory.
“Overseeing the production of OMEGA was an experience like none I’ve ever had. I was moved to tears countless times as I heard everyone’s arrangements. OMEGA is a love letter to Xenogears and its timeless soundtrack. I hope it brings many hours of enjoyment to everyone who listens.”
OMEGA: A Tribute to Xenogears is also available as a limited edition 2-CD digipak, featuring artwork by Jake Murray. This double CD release includes the album in a variety of digital formats and can be purchased from the album’s Bandcamp listing.
