Descent veterans come together.

Ahead of the game’s full release later this month, Revival Productions has announced that the soundtrack to Overload is now available.

Currently an Early Access game, Overload is a first-person shooter that features six degrees of freedom. Part of the development team includes Matt Toschlog and Mike Kulas – the founders of Parallax Software, the studio behind the first couple of Descent games which also utilised six degrees of freedom.

Overload: Official Soundtrack is now available from Steam for owners of the game. As part of a special promotion that comes to an end on 15th May, the soundtrack will be discounted by 20%.

With composers that have worked on the Descent series, such as Jerry Berlongieri, Allister Brimble, and Dan Wentz, the album features original works from six different musicians.

Kulas spoke briefly about the make up of a video game experience and the correlation between game audio and music, saying:

“If game audio accounts for 30% of the experience, then 20% of that should be in the music!”

Toschlog also explained the reasoning behind having multiple composers working on the soundtrack:

“Where sound provides information, music provides inspiration… As such we decided to incorporate multiple composers to cover the various worlds with an ongoing collage of original music to ramp up the unfolding action. We hope you enjoy the experience!”

Overload will come out of Early Access with a full release on 31st May for Steam, with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions coming soon.

Version 3.0 of the playable teaser is available on Steam; alternatively, you could visit the official game site ( for a direct download.
