A couple of classics from the Rock Band Rewind series.

Harmonix has revealed this week’s Rock Band 4 downloadable content and it features some ’80s new wave, and ’90s alternative rock.

As part of the Rock Band Rewind series of tracks, this week’s DLC include a couple of songs that were previously released for earlier Rock Band games.

  • Duran Duran – “Hungry Like The Wolf” (Rewind)
  • Radiohead – “Creep” (Rewind)

Taken from the release notes:

Duran Duran was featured on the Rock Band 2 disc with “Hungry Like The Wolf”. With heavy airplay on MTV, the song shot up to #3 on the Billboard Hot 100, winning the first Grammy for Best Short Form Music Video, and going on to become one of the band’s most recognized songs. In the UK, “Hungry Like The Wolf” spent nearly two months in the top 10, helping their album Rio hit #2 on the charts. A light guitar riff pairs nicely with the song, but the true highlight in this new wave hit is the bassline. Very active, it’s even brought to the front during a breakdown near the end of the track.

“Creep” was one of the highlights of the original Rock Band. Charting strongly all around the world, it is widely considered one of the greatest songs of the ‘90s. “Creep” charted again in the UK in 2008 thanks to the compilation album Radiohead: The Best Of, further proving the song’s lasting endurance. The song is built around alternating quiet and loud, changing up all the charts on every shift. Tremelo [sic] strumming raises the volume on guitar, but strum lanes assist so you don’t have to perfectly match the speed. Drums largely keep the same pattern, but swap to the ride in the chorus.

Songs can be bought individually.

Both tracks will be available to download from tomorrow. To get an idea of the songs’ structure and pace, check out the gameplay video below.
