The soundtrack to adventure game Chicory: A Colorful Tale has released alongside the game.

Chicory: A Colorful Tale is developed by a small team of indie developers in Greg Lobanov, Lena Raine, Em Halberstadt, Alexis Dean-Jones, and Madeline Berger. The game centres on a dog with a magical paintbrush and tasks players with restoring colour to the world. New paint abilities can be unlocked in order to explore new areas and environments can be manipulated to solve puzzles.

The game’s multi-genre soundtrack is composed by the aforementioned Raine (ESC, Celeste, and Celeste: Farewell) and comprises 60 tracks of piano pieces, electronic, and chamber music.

The game’s score was written over the course of over two years and as the composer puts it, a “labor of love”. Additional musicians who contributed performances to the soundtrack include oboist Kristin Naigus, violinist Michaela Nachtigall, cellist SungHa Hong, guitarist Stemage, drummer Kevin Ragone, saxophonist Carlos “insaneintherainmusic” Eiene, and singer-songwriter Emi Evans.

The soundtrack is available to purchase and stream from digital platforms including Amazon Music, Apple Music, Bandcamp, Deezer, iTunes, YouTube, and YouTube Music.

The album also features artwork by the aforementioned Dean-Jones, the game’s animator character designer. Liner notes will be added to the soundtrack’s Bandcamp listing in the coming weeks to avoid spoiling the game.

Chicory: A Colorful Tale is available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, macOS, and Windows.
