The limited ‘Undead Iris’ variant is exclusive to Laced Records.

After posting a teaser image on social media on Wednesday, music label Laced Records has now officially announced that the soundtrack to 2019’s Resident Evil 2 will be releasing as a quadruple-vinyl album with two editions to choose from.

Resident Evil 2 is a remake of the original 1998 release from Capcom’s long-running survival-horror series. The modernised version of the game uses a free-roaming, third-person camera angle as opposed to the original’s static viewpoints.

46 select tracks from the game’s score will be pressed on four 180g vinyl discs – the standard edition will be pressed on black discs whereas the limited edition will be on ‘Undead Iris’ coloured discs. Both editions come with printed inner sleeves for the vinyl and a rigid box to house the 4xLP album.

Resident Evil 2 sees the return of Shusaku Uchiyama (Mega Man 8 and Resident Evil Village) as the game’s lead composer. Uchiyama has worked on multiple instalments in the Resident Evil series including the original Resident Evil 2, and for the soundtrack to this remake, rearranged several of the game’s original Masami Ueda compositions.

Other musicians featured on the Resident Evil 2 soundtrack include Zhenlan Kang, Tadayoshi Makino, Kentaro Nakashima, Yuichi Tsuchiya, Masahiro Ohki, and Mana Ogura. The opening track, “Saudade”, features Cody Matthew Johnson alongside Shim whereas the track “Tofu on Fire” features Syotaro Nakayama and Taisuke Fujisawa on guitar.

Pre-orders for the Resident Evil 2 4xLP soundtrack are available from the Laced Records online store with shipping scheduled for February 2022.

The game’s full digital soundtrack is already available from Amazon Music, Apple Music, Deezer, iTunes, and Spotify.

Resident Evil 2 is developed and published by Capcom; the game is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows.
