Action platformer Cursed Castilla (also known as Maldita Castilla EX) is set for a physical release on Nintendo Switch and Abylight Studios has a special collector’s edition which can be pre-ordered now from its online shop.

Cursed Castilla is developed by Locomalito and comprises six chapters, each one split into sections containing 40 unique enemies and 14 bosses. The game has a pixel art style and is inspired by medieval paintings, old Spanish codexes, and arcades games from the ’80s. There are four different performance-based endings for players to achieve.

The collector’s edition of Cursed Castilla comes with a copy of the game with a reversible cover, manual, the chiptune soundtrack by Gryzor87 on CD, an arcade cut-out with a lenticular screen, sticker, 36-page hardcover making-of book, and a key ring.

Pre-orders are available now from the Abylight Studios online shop with shipping scheduled for this summer.

“This soundtrack is created for oldschool fans and adventure lovers,” Gryzor87 explained. “It has the sound of the legendary YM2203 chip, used in classic arcades like Commando, Black Tiger or Shadow Warriors and influences from classic epic movies like Ben-Hur, Knights of the Round Table or Ivanhoe.”
