The soundtrack by Nobuo Uematsu, Masashi Hamauzu, and Mitsuto Suzuki takes the award.

The results are in for The Game Awards 2020 as winners across 30 different categories have been officially announced.

Action role-playing game Final Fantasy VII Remake won the ‘Best Score and Music’ award, besting first-person shooter DOOM Eternal, rogue-like dungeon crawler Hades, action-platformer Ori and the Will of the Wisps, and action-adventure game The Last of Us Part II.

The game’s soundtrack is scored by series composer Nobuo Uematsu, Masashi Hamauzu, and Mitsuto Suzuki.

Final Fantasy VII Remake music supervisor Keiji Kawamori accepted the award remotely via video (embedded below).

“We are very honoured to receive this wonderful award,” he said. “To those who have played this game, to our sound team who took part in the production of the music, and of course, to Mr. Nobuo Uematsu, who created the original soundtrack for Final Fantasy VII, thank you very much.

“We are extremely grateful,” Kawamori added. “And I would be very happy if people could play this game once more, while focusing attention on the music. Thank you very much.”
