Music initiative to be overseen by Koven.

After the announcement back in January that the Jägermeister Track and Build initiative would be making its return in 2020, the winner of this year’s competition has now been revealed to be upcoming multiplayer racer Wreckout.

Track and Build is a soundtrack competition in which indie games can enter and should they win, will have a soundtrack produced for it by an up-and-coming artist. The tracks will be overseen by bass music duo Koven.

Koven has previously produced tracks for the Rocket League x Monstercat compilation albums and remixed Hybrid’s “Be Here Now” for the Driveclub soundtrack.

“The standard of entries for Track and Build was exceptional this year, as evidenced by a game of Wreckout‘s quality winning the competition,” said Jägermeister music manager Tom Carson. “The gameplay looks fantastic and it really lends itself to a thumping soundtrack, which we’re now looking forward to helping provide to the team at Huey Games.”

Now the initiative has to decide on the music artist who will contribute tracks to the game, with Koven providing project oversight.

“We are thrilled that Wreckout has won Track & Build 2020 and can’t wait to hook up the new soundtrack in-game,” said Huey Games director Rob Hewson. “It’s a real honour to have Koven overseeing it, and we can’t wait to deliver an electrifying gameplay experience to match the incredible music.”

Koven also commented via a press release, adding: “Wreckout looks awesome and we’re looking forward to working on some great tracks to make it shine even more.”

Wreckout is developed by indie studio Huey Games and recently made it as one of the 15 finalists at UK Game of the Show 2020.

The game is scheduled for release later this year on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows. Wreckout will also be released on next-generation platforms PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
