The limited-edition CD version is available to pre-order.
Producer and arranger Rozen has once again teamed up with vocalist Reven to release another arrangement album, this time one that reinterprets the music from the Kingdom Hearts role-playing game series.
The Keyblade War comprises 16 arrangements and is the second album that’s been co-produced and co-arranged by the two long-time collaborators, following NieR: Glory to Mankind which was released back in 2017.
Joining Rozen+Reven for this Kingdom Hearts tribute are the Sofia Session Orchestra & Choir, the ETHEReal String Orchestra, cellist Ro Rowan, and orchestral musician Kristin Naigus.
Fans can purchase The Keyblade War from digital stores such as Bandcamp, iTunes, and Google Play; the album can also be streamed from services including Amazon Music, Apple Music, Deezer, Spotify, and TIDAL.
A limited-edition CD version of the album can also be pre-ordered now from the Bandcamp listing and the Materia Collective product page. This CD edition comprises an 8-panel digipak with spot UV gloss and a 20-page booklet containing behind-the-scenes photographs. The album features disc artwork by illustrator Anato Finnstark and is expected to ship in April.
“Kingdom Hearts is full of classic dichotomies (good vs. evil, light vs. dark), unexplained lore, time travel, interconnected characters, and above all excellent music, all of which makes it the perfect ground to explore with multi-genre, large-scale arrangements,” explained Rozen and Reven via a press release.
“The Keyblade War weaves along the boundary between light and darkness using themes from across the series, from the heart-pounding ‘Destati’ to the melancholy vocals of ‘Sanctuary ~After the Battle~’,” they added.
The Keyblade War will also be localised in Japanese.
