“… we needed to have music that was completely unique to support the style and also the ambition of the game.”
Publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment has released another video in its vlog series behind upcoming game 11-11: Memories Retold.
11-11: Memories Retold is a story-driven collaboration between Bandai Namco, developer DigixArt, and animation studio Aardman Animations. Set during World War I the game features a ‘painted’ art style, as well as voice acting from Elijah Wood, and Sebastian Koch.
“I worked very closely with the writers (Iain Sharkey and Stephen Long),” explained the game’s composer Olivier Derivière. “We’ve been discussing on a daily basis the characters. The music now is much more about telling the story. [It’s] very dramatic but also very cheerful, sometimes absurd. It’s during war so [it’s] very harsh.”
The game’s main protagonists, a Canadian photographer and a German technician, cross paths as the former heads for Europe to join the Western Front, while the latter searches for his missing son.
“The two characters are speaking like narrators and the music is supporting that,” said Derivière.
11-11: Memories Retold will be released on 9th November for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
