This week’s update features a rap song and its rock cover.

The downloadable content update for Rock Band 4 this week consists of two tracks: a song by Australian rapper Masked Wolf and its cover by American alternative rock band Our Last Night.

Australian rapper Masked Wolf’s breakthrough hit “Astronaut In The Ocean” was initially released in 2019 then re-released in early January 2021 after it began to see widespread success. It has reached the top 10 on Billboard’s Hot 100.  The song’s lyrics touch on depression and anxiety and features a modern hip-hop sonic landscape consisting of half-time electronic drums, a booming bassline, and an eerie guitar line.

Our Last Night’s cover of “Astronaut In The Ocean” was released March 25th 2021 and is a more post-hardcore take on the Masked Wolf song. It features the same iconic guitar line detuned, distorted and expanded to create a melodic and heavy song when paired with the hybrid harsh and clean vocal delivery and syncopated double bass drum patterns. Fans of the original song and heavy music alike will have a fun time with this track.
