Vinyl edition funded via a Bandcamp campaign; music video for “Memory Card” out now.

Rappers Noveliss (Metal Face Hokage) and Mega Ran (Black Materia: The Remake) have released Maverick Hunters, a new tribute album inspired by Capcom’s long-running Mega Man series.

Maverick Hunters is a hip-hop album comprising 8 tracks that put a new spin on Mega Man X and Mega Man Zero themes and cutscene music.

The tracks have been produced by past collaborators of the rap duo, artists and musicians including Hir-O, Yon L.I., and DJ DN³.

The album is available now digitally from platforms including Amazon Music, Apple Music, Bandcamp, Deezer, iTunes, Spotify, TIDAL, and YouTube Music; the Bandcamp listing has a bonus track called “Grove of Titans” produced by Young RJ which features rapper RoQy TyRaiD.

“I’ve always been a Mega Man classic and X guy,” said Mega Ran via a press release. “[B]ut Noveliss has been a fan of Zero since the beginning. His enthusiasm for those games has made me revisit them and while challenging, they arguably have the most engaging story of the entire series… and not to mention the soundtrack. It’s so underrated.”

Noveliss added: “Zero was always the coolest looking character in the universe… the sword, the weapons… he was who I wanted to be. I played through every game in the series faithfully, enamored by his mysterious nature and strong will. I try to bring that to this album.”

Fans can watch the official music video for “Memory Card” over on the Dead End Hip Hop YouTube channel (directed by ShotByDub).

There’s also a limited edition of Maverick Hunters that will be pressed on coloured vinyl that’s fully funded via a Bandcamp campaign. This vinyl edition of Maverick Hunters will come with two additional bonus tracks – “When It’s Over” and “B Fine”, produced by Young RJ and vibesounds, respectively.
