Limited to 300 copies.

New video game music label Very Ok Vinyl has announced that it will be releasing the soundtrack to Necrosphere on vinyl.

Necrosphere is metroidvania game developed by Cat Nigiri that originally released in 2017 for Linux, macOS, and Windows, and then later for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Xbox One. The game was also ported to Android and iOS by Doublethink Games.

The electronic soundtrack, composed by studio sound designer Juliane Andrezzo, will be pressed on a 140g pink splatter vinyl disc.

The soundtrack vinyl will be available to order from the Very Ok Vinyl online store from 14:00 EDT (19:00 BST) on 27th April; this release is limited to 300 copies. A small number of copies will also be available from Ship to Shore PhonoCo.

In a blog entry on the developer’s website, Andrezzo spoke about the classification and intention of the game’s soundtrack, saying: “I do not consider [the] Necrosphere score to be a purist example of chiptune art, nor do I intend to.”

She added: “On the contrary, the pretense here is to use the commonplace of this aesthetic in order to subvert it.”

Canadian label Very Ok Vinyl has stated that there are currently no plans for a distributed European release although international shipping will be provided.

The Necrosphere soundtrack is already available from major digital platforms including Amazon Music, Apple Music, Bandcamp, Deezer, iTunes, Spotify, and YouTube Music.
