The game’s soundtrack also includes licensed music by Radiohead, Phoebe Bridgers, and Gabrielle Aplin.
During the Square Enix Presents live showcase, a new entry in the Life is Strange episodic adventure series was announced.
Life is Strange: True Colors is set in a small town called Haven Springs and stars Alex Chen as the main protagonist. Chen has a supernatural power of empathy which she has suppressed for a long time, something that she views as a curse. Following the death of her brother, Chen must learn to embrace this volatile ability in order to discover the dark secrets that have been kept by her town.
The game’s soundtrack features new tracks by American singer-songwriter mxmtoon and Welsh multi-instrumentalist Novo Amor. Licensed tracks include music by Radiohead, Phoebe Bridgers, and Gabrielle Aplin among others.
Life is Strange: True Colors features a cover of Radiohead’s “Creep” performed by mxmtoon, who also is the in-game singing voice of Chen. A visualiser of mxmtoon’s “Creep” cover has been uploaded to her YouTube channel (embedded below); the single is available from digital platforms including Apple Music, Deezer, iTunes, SoundCloud, and Spotify.
This latest instalment in the Life is Strange series is the first to be released in its entirety instead of episodic chapters.
Life is Strange: True Colors is developed by Deck Nine (Life is Strange: Before the Storm) in collaboration with Square Enix External Studios. The game is scheduled for release on 10th September for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Windows, and Stadia.
The game will be available digitally and physically in three editions; additional information can be found on the game’s official website.
