Soundtrack to release digitally on 26th November with CD and vinyl variants to follow afterwards.
Sony Interactive Entertainment has revealed some details regarding the soundtrack to the upcoming action role-playing game Demon’s Souls.
The game is a remake of the original that released on the PlayStation 3 back in 2009. This version is “rebuilt from the ground up” with enhancements made possible by a new generation of hardware.
Creative director at SIE Worldwide Studios, Gavin Moore, spoke about the music and sound design in Demon’s Souls via an entry on the PlayStation Blog and how the two auditory elements help create a certain atmosphere for the player.
“Music is used sparingly, and fear builds within you from its absence, and a sense of loneliness and desperation creeps in,” Moore explained. “But the void left by the music is filled with sound, which surrounds you and envelops you.”
He added: “The soundscape is both atmospheric and frightening, immersing you in this brutal and beautiful world.”

Many members of the original voice cast have returned to reprise their roles for this remake with rerecorded dialogue.
Demon’s Souls features arrangements of the original score composed by Shunsuke Kida. An orchestra and choir were enlisted to record the reimagined compositions at AIR Studios in London, England.
“You can even hear the famous pipe organ at Temple Church that adds a haunting backdrop to many of the tracks,” Moore said. “120 of the finest musicians in the world perform on this score. And we’re incredibly proud of it.”
The soundtrack to Demon’s Souls will be released digitally on 26th November. Music label Milan Records will be releasing the soundtrack on CD shortly afterwards and pre-orders for the vinyl release are scheduled to open in early December.
