freezedream’s soundtrack for the retro platformer gets a vinyl release.
The soundtrack to 16-bit platformer Tanglewood is getting a limited pressing on vinyl with pre-orders available now ahead of its release later this year.
Tanglewood is developed and published by Big Evil Corporation for the SEGA Mega Drive, “programmed in pure 68000 assembly language, using original SEGA development tools and processes from the 1990s”, as described on the game’s website.
Development of the game was funded via a 2016 Kickstarter campaign. In 2018, the game was digitally released for Linux, macOS, and Windows, along with a physical release for the SEGA Mega Drive later that year.
The game’s electronic soundtrack, composed by freezedream, has been pressed on an orange-and-purple colourway vinyl disc and consists of 21 select tracks of music. The vinyl is housed in a jacket featuring artwork from the game cover.
Pre-orders are available now from the Respawned Records online store. Only 300 copies of this album are available.
Black Screen Records is also stocking this release as a distributed title with pre-orders also available from its online store.
Both music labels are expecting to ship this release in October.
