Limited double-CD edition also available.
Music label Scarlet Moon Records has announced a new album from its Prescription for Sleep: Game Music Lullabies series set for release early next month.
Prescription for Sleep: Shovel Knight is the eight instalment in the lullaby series and pays tribute to the music of 2D side-scrolling platform game Shovel Knight, developed by Yacht Club Games and composed by Jake Kaufman and Mega Man composer Manami Matsumae.
Jazz duo GENTLE LOVE, comprising of Metal Gear Solid and Bayonetta series composer Norihiko Hibino and Etrian Odyssey performer AYAKI, have once again reinterpreted video game music with their signature performances on saxophone and piano, respectively.
Prescription for Sleep: Shovel Knight features 19 tracks from Shovel Knight and its various expansions including the upcoming King of Cards campaign. The album also features an original theme called “A New Dawn”, bringing the total number of tracks up to 20.
“GENLTE LOVE’s Norihiko Hibino and Shovel Knight composer Jake Kaufman have a history of working together,” said album producer Jayson Napolitano via a press release. “They’ve developed a huge respect for one another over this time, and I wanted to give Hibino-san the opportunity to pay the ultimate tribute to Jake’s masterwork.
“We would have done it sooner, but we wanted to include every story expansion, so here we are! Please enjoy it, and know you’re getting a sneak peek at King of Cards before the game is even out!”

Prescription for Sleep: Shovel Knight is available to pre-order now ahead of its full release on 6th December from digital outlets including Bandcamp and iTunes, as well as streaming services such as Apple Music, Deezer, Spotify, and TIDAL.
The album is also available on double-CD (only 1,000 copies available) with pre-orders also available from the Bandcamp listing. This limited edition includes the album on two CDs housed in a six-panel digipak with silver foil print, a 20-page booklet containing comics and interviews, and a sticker sheet.
Other albums in the Prescription for Sleep series include two volumes of Game Music Lullabies, Lullabies of Mana, Undertale, Fight for Your Dreams, A Tribute to the Departed, and Celeste.
