High definition remaster set for release this December.
Action role-playing game Star Ocean: First Departure R is set for release later this year and publisher Square Enix has revealed that the game will come with some voice cast options regarding which voice-overs players prefer to play with.
Originally released in 1996 for the Super Famicom, Star Ocean was never released outside of Japan. The game was eventually remade for the PlayStation Portable with the new title Star Ocean: First Departure.
Star Ocean: First Departure R is an HD remaster and will be released on 5th December for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.
The game includes the option for players to play with the voice cast of the PSP version in Japanese as well as English. Alternatively, players can opt for the newly recorded voice-overs, featuring the voice cast from the original Super Famicom version.
Players can also choose between the Star Ocean: First Departure character illustrations or the new ones drawn by series illustrator Katsumi Enami.
Star Ocean: First Departure R is currently available to pre-order for PlayStation 4 and comes with a static theme featuring the character pixel artwork of Enami, and a digital mini soundtrack containing music from the Star Ocean Live 2019 concert.
