The original soundtrack to the 1993 side-scrolling platform game Sonic CD has been mastered and pressed on 3xLP vinyl, and available to pre-order now.
Sonic CD’s soundtrack, originally written by Masafumi Ogata and Naofumi Hataya, was subsequently rewritten by other composers for the North American version of the game.
The original Japanese soundtrack (also used in the European release) is now available on vinyl in a choice of three colourways, one of which is a limited edition, from Data Discs:
- 180g Clear Vinyl with blue & green / blue etched disc (limited edition)
- 180g Sonic Blue Vinyl / etched disc
- 180g Classic Black Vinyl / etched disc
Fans can listen to a preview of the Sonic CD soundtrack by visiting the Data Discs SoundCloud page where a couple of tracks have been shared.
A download code for the digital version of the soundtrack is included with all variants of the vinyl.
Also part of the package are three double-sided art prints, composer liner notes, and an etching design on Side F of the album.
Pre-orders for the limited edition will stay open until 17th June (12:00pm BST). Customers who place their orders before then will be guaranteed a copy.
Shipping is expected this September.
