Ubisoft announces the release date for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint.
The newest instalment in the Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon series has been announced and publisher Ubisoft has revealed the game’s release date when it launches later this year.
Pre-orders for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint are available now ahead of its release on 4th October for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows.
Developer Ubisoft Paris has created an open world military shooter where players can play solo or together in four-player cooperative action. Players will explore an island called Aurora, a location in which tech company Skell Technology is based.
The Wolves, a military unit of former Ghost soldiers, have taken over the island under the leadership of Lt. Colonel Cole D. Walker – once again portrayed by The Walking Dead and The Punisher actor Jon Bernthal – and repurposed Skell Technology’s drones for their own nefarious operations.
In this 13-minute gameplay video, the game’s open world and customisable gameplay can be seen; players can complete their missions using a variety of tactical options and tools. Enemies and teammates can be picked up and carried, players can utilise camouflage equipment to blend into their surroundings, and camp can be set up using the bivouac where players can manage their equipment, make changes to their class, and adjust strategic plans.
Players can customise their Ghost soldier with character progression that carries over from the main campaign to the player-versus-player mode.
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint will also feature “regular updates after launch” with new story arcs, classes, and other features being continually added. ‘Raids’ will also be rolled out as endgame content.
Aside from the standard edition of the game (which includes the base game and access to the beta), three special editions have also been announced.
The Gold Edition comes with the game, access to the beta, three-day early access starting 1st October, and the Year 1 Pass (which includes two new adventures called Deep State and Transcendence, a mission called Siren’s Call which will be made available at launch, one-week early access to three classes, and the Special Operations Forces Pack which comes with the Quiet DMR, Covered ACH, Crye G3 Combat Pants, and the Cross Draw Vest).
The Ultimate Edition includes everything The Gold Edition comes with, as well as The Ultimate Pack which comprises a bonus mission and additional in-game items such as the Trail TX motorbike, the Spider buggy, and The Survivor Pack.
The Wolves Collector’s Edition, the largest bundle of them all, comes with all previously mentioned items, as well as a Ubicollectibles 24cm figurine of Lt. Colonel Cole D. Walker (available to pre-order as a standalone purchase from the Ubisoft store), a steelbook, a Confidential File with three lithographs, Walker’s dog tag, a select soundtrack CD, and a waterproof map of Aurora.
