Can The Flight do it again?
Nominations for the 64th Ivor Novello Awards have been announced ahead of the annual ceremony due to take place towards the end of next month.
Sponsored by PRS for Music, The Ivors celebrates British and Irish songwriting and composing with categories that range from songs and albums to film and TV, as well as one for video game scores.
This year, the three nominations for ‘Best Original Video Game Score’ are:
Assassin’s Creed Odysey
Composed by Michael Georgiades and The Flight (Joe Henson and Alexis Smith)
Q.U.B.E. 2
Composed by David Housden
Sea of Thieves
Composed by Robin Beanland
Collaborating duo Henson and Smith are looking to secure another win this year, following their success at The Ivors 2018 when Horizon Zero Dawn was nominated in the same category and won, beating out Life is Strange: Before the Storm and Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice.
Other categories at The Ivors 2019 include ‘Best Album’, ‘Best Contemporary Song’, ‘Best Original Film Score’, ‘Best Song Musically and Lyrically’, ‘Best Television Soundtrack’, and ‘PRS Most Performed Work’.
A total of fourteen Ivor Novella awards will be presented.
