Artist JonJon reveals what he thinks is the pinnacle of breakdancing games.
Originally released for Nintendo Switch last year, followed by a Steam release in May, breakdancing rhythm game Floor Kids will also be out on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later this month.
Creator and animator of the Floor Kids characters JonJon recently wrote an entry on the PlayStation Blog wherein the artist described the game’s early concepts and animated promo project with turntablist and Floor Kids sound designer Kid Koala.
JonJon also recalled how he saw the breakdancers turning up to practices with their PlayStation Portable consoles and B-Boy, the hip-hop breakdancing game developed by FreeStyleGames.
“To me, the game B-Boy for PSP and PS2 will always be the pinnacle of breakdancing games for the B-boys and B-girls of the community, because it comes directly from one of the most influential, original bboys of all time: Crazy Legs of the legendary Rock Steady Crew. B-Boy the game will always be the first, and most comprehensive of its kind, and we didn’t try to replace it.”
Head over to the PlayStation Blog entry to read up on other topics, including the 10,000 drawings it took to make the game, how JonJon reminded himself of his breakdancing roots and what that expression is all about, as well as some tips for players looking to rack up as many points as they can.
Floor Kids will be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on 27th November.
