More music from Jagex’s library to be released in the coming months.
RuneScape: The Orchestral Collection and RuneScape: Original Soundtrack Classics are both available now digitally – with double vinyl and CD formats open for pre-orders at the Laced Records website (or here for North America). Those who pre-order the vinyl and CD albums will also receive the digital editions.
RuneScape: The Orchestral Collection features music that’s arranged by James Hannigan – the award-winning composer who’s also scored the soundtracks to other video games including Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, Dead Space 3, and Transformers Universe – with performances from the Philharmonia Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios last December, and the Slovak National Symphony Orchestra (Slovenská filharmoniá) in Bratislava back in 2012.
Tracks taken from the Abbey Road recording sessions are new compositions or new arrangements – a number of which are making their debut on the album.
The double vinyl edition contains 26 tracks pressed on 180g black vinyl in a gatefold sleeve featuring new artwork. The double CD and digital variants contains an additional seven tracks, bringing the total up to 33.
The RuneScape: Original Soundtrack Classics vinyl album is arranged in a way to reflect what a player’s first journey through Gielinor might have been like through a combination of tracks taken from Old School RuneScape and the earlier days of RuneScape.
The double vinyl edition has 24 tracks pressed on 180g red vinyl and comes in a gatefold sleeve also featuring new artwork. The double CD and digital variants come with an additional nine tracks, bringing the total number up to 43.
RuneScape holds the Guinness World Record in ‘Most original pieces of music in a video game (including expansions)’ with 1,198 individual tracks as of July 2017. Currently the game has 1,128 tracks.
Additional music from Jagex’s library will be released in the coming months – two of which are available today: RuneScape: The Arc and RuneScape: Menaphos. These two albums contain 20 and 32 tracks, respectively, and are available to stream or download from major outlets.
