Only 500 copies of the Founders Edition available.

It’s been announced that Voidpoint’s old-school first-person shooter Ion Maiden will be getting a full release in early 2019.

Ion Maiden is built using the Build Engine, the same first-person shooter engine that powered ’90s games such as Blood, Duke Nukem 3D, and Shadow Warrior.

A multi-hour preview campaign is currently available through Early Access on Steam. Ion Maiden was originally planned to be released during the third quarter of this year. Those who own the Early Access build will get to take part in the multiplayer beta closer to the game’s full release.

There’s also a special edition of the game – Ion Maiden Founders Edition is available for pre-order now and comes bundled with the following:

  • Full game on a modified floppy disk (with built-in USB connector, USB cable)
  • 6″ Bombshell figurine
  • Ion Maiden original soundtrack (disc also contains the full game)
  • Ion Maiden mouse pad
  • A3 poster with key art and world map
  • Bowling Bomb stickers
  • Lanyard
  • 3x Key card magnets (1:1 scale)
  • A “Coming soon from 3D Realms” catalogue

Ion Maiden Founders Edition comes packaged in a retro ’90s-style big box with matte and gloss finish. Only 500 copies have been produced and they’re available to purchase via the Ion Maiden website where there’s a real-time counter displaying how much stock is left. Those who own the game via Early Access will get a 10% discount.

“We wanted Ion Maiden out as soon as possible, but it has to be the best it can be,” explained Frederik Schreiber, Vice President at 3D Realms. “But this extra time means we can make this awesome Big Box edition and add multiplayer at launch, so we hope players understand.”
